School in Session
The City of Midland would like to remind motorists to slow down while in school zones. The use of cellular devices is prohibited in school zones. Any one caught using a cellular device while in a school zone may be subject to a $200 fine.

Apply for Midland 101
The City of Midland is gearing up for the 2010-2011 Midland 101 school year beginning in October. Midland 101 is a program aimed at familiarizing citizens with the structure, function, and purpose of Midland government, and to equip and encourage them to assume a leadership role within the community.

Introducing the City of Midland Vendor Self Service System (VSS)
Effective Wednesday, 9/1/10, the City of Midland Purchasing Division will begin using the Vendor Self Service (VSS) system to register and maintain vendor accounts. All vendors who wish to conduct business with the City will be required to update and maintain all information used for the notification and issuance of payment in the VSS system.

Midland’s Sales Tax Revenue History
Midland experienced a long run, 65 consecutive months, of increased sales tax revenues. The streak came to an end with a slight decrease in overall revenues received for March 2009. Sales Taxes for each month are composed of receipts for prior periods, future periods, the current period and audit adjustments to yield total sales tax receipts for the month.
