FEBRUARY 28th CITY COUNCIL BRIEFS

The City Council will consider resolutions authorizing the execution of Sports Agreements with eight different associations.  They include: Midland Junior Baseball; Midland United Girls Softball Association; Midland Softball Association; Permian Basin Adult Soccer Association; Permian Basin United Soccer Association; Greater Midland Football League; the Midland Soccer Association; and the Midland Cricket Group.  Through these agreements, recreation costs for running league and tournament play have been a savings to the operating budget for the Community Services Department.  Also, through matching funds raised by the associations, capital improvements have been made to facilities that would otherwise have been carried in the City’s operating budget.  The organizations volunteers help to coordinate and operate various sporting activities.  Contact: Monette Burke/Director of Community Services at 685.7354

Golfers may soon notice a more attractive entrance to Hogan Park Golf Course.  The City Council will consider authorizing advertisement for bids for landscape improvements to the entrance and parking lot.  Improvements will include additional irrigation, drought-tolerant plant materials, landscape rock features, fencing additions, and parking lot lighting additions.  Contact: Monette Burke/Director of Community Services at 685.7354

At approximately 12:30 p.m., the City Council will attend the ground breaking for Midland’s first Off-Leash Dog Park.  The event will take place at Hogan Park, 1201 East Wadley near the Sibley Circle Entrance.
