APRIL SALES TAX REVENUES
The City of Midland has collected this month's revenue from the State Comptroller's Office. The total amount of revenue received was $1,420,582.
This month's figure reflects a 30.14% increase or a $329,016 increase from April 2005.
The year-to-date total sales tax revenue for fiscal year 2005-2006 is up 18.37% or an $1,653,912 increase from last year's totals at this time. Fiscal year-to-date actual sales tax revenue is $10,655,026.
Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax income from two months prior to collection; April collection is based on February sales.

FREE IMMUNIZATION WEEK
The City of Midland Health and Senior Services will celebrate Free Immunizations Week by providing free immunizations to Midland children 18 years and younger during the week of April 17-21, 2006.
Free immunizations will be available at the City of Midland Health and Senior Services Department, 3303 West Illinois, in the Kingsway Mall. Hours of operation are as follows:
Monday, April 17, 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, April 18 – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 19 – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 20 – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Friday, April 21 – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
All children need to be protected from serious childhood diseases. Immunizations can help protect children from Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tetnus, Diptheria, Pertussis, Polio, Haemophilus Inflenzae b, Hepatitis B, and Chickenpox.
A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of eighteen and they must have their shot records.

MISSING PERSON
The Midland Police Department needs your help in locating a missing person. 37-year-old Jeffrey Braziel of Midland was last seen on February 28, 2006. Anyone who has seen him is encouraged to contact the department.
Jeffrey Braziel is a black male, 5’6” tall, weighing 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Midland police received the missing person report on March 13, 2006 and have few leads.

RETIREMENT/PROMOTION
The Midland Fire Department will say good-bye to a long time member while promoting three employees to higher ranks. A ceremony will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Fire Station.
Former interim Fire Chief Jerry Petree will retire after 36 years of service to the community. Before serving as interim Fire Chief for six months, Petree was Fire Marshal for 24 years, 15 years of that as an Assistant Chief. He was first hired by the city as a Police Recruit in 1970 and served as a Patrolman for one year. Petree then made the move to the fire service and was promoted to Driver in 1976. He began his work in fire prevention in 1976 as a Fire Inspector and then in 1978 was promoted to Assistant Fire Marshal.
Assistant Fire Marshal Jeff Meiner will be promoted to Fire Marshal. Meiner has served as the Assistant Fire Marshal for nearly 7 years. He has worked in fire prevention since his promotion to Fire Inspector in 1993. Meiner was first hired by the MFD in 1991 as a Firefighter.
Fire Inspector David Hickman will move to the rank of Assistant Fire Marshal. He has been with the department for 17 years. Firefighter Dubby Scrivner will move to Fire Driver. He has been with the department for 9 years.
The media is encouraged to attend and help make this a special day for the men and their families.
