CITY HONORS VOLUNTEERS & BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS
Volunteers contribute their time and energy daily. Once a year, the City of Midland has the pleasure of recognizing those individuals who participate in the Midland Volunteer Program. In addition, the City will honor those that serve in the capacity of a board or commission member. On Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 6:30 p.m., a recognition dinner will take place at Greentree Country Club.
In 2005, over 116 volunteers contributed a total of 27,973.50 hours. This translates into $504,641.94 for value of time.
During the celebration, hour bars will be presented to the volunteers to represent their accumulated totals through 2005. The bars are in increments of 50, 100, 150, 200, and thereafter in 100-hour increments.
Overall, volunteers have contributed in excess of 211,329 hours since the program’s inception in 1987.
In addition, there are 32 Boards, Commissions, and Committees in which approximately 220 persons serve.
