DANCE

The City of Midland and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center will host a dance on May 19, 2006 from 6-11:00 p.m.

The event is for teenagers, 14 years old and up.  It will take place at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, 2300 Butternut Lane.

There will be music, food, and fun for everyone.  Cost is $4.00 per person or $6.00 per couple.

PROMOTION CEREMONY

The Midland Police Department will promote one of its own.  A promotion ceremony will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the third floor conference room at the MPD.

Sergeant Bernie Kraft will move to the rank of lieutenant.  39-year-old Kraft has been employed by the department for 15 years.  Most recently, he worked in traffic and as a Field Training Officer.  Kraft also plays a big role in emergency response for the Midland Police Department.  He will begin his lieutenant duties in the patrol division. 

The promotion is the result of the retirement of Lieutenant Chris Cherry.

The media is invited to attend and help make this a special moment for the department.
