MAY 9th CITY COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

  • The City Council will consider entering into a lease agreement with Midland Christian School for use of Grande Communications Stadium.  Midland Christian requested the City consider entering into an agreement allowing set annual fees and second right of refusal after MISD for use of the stadium.  The lease for five years would allow Midland Christian to play TAPPS home football games as a second right of refusal after MISD.  Midland Christian will pay the City $750 per home game.  Midland Christian will retain revenues generated from its ticket sales and will furnish the necessary personnel to staff the games.  The City will be responsible for field maintenance and customary clean up.  Media Contact: Monette Burke/Director of Community Services at 685.7354
  • In an effort to streamline site development review, building material, and design standards, the City Council will consider two items that better define such items in the City Code.  Site Plan Review Standards will focus on non-residential zoning districts.  The standards would establish an administrative site plan review process to address exterior building materials, screening elements, parking lot design, and outdoor lighting.  The purpose is to promote quality development that will enhance our city.  The Council will also consider changes to the Zoning Code to refine and revise the regulation of primary buildings, accessory structures, and fencing in residential zoning districts.  The streamlining will help lay out standards for developers and help maintain aesthetics, especially along Midland’s main corridors.  Media Contact: Cameron Walker/Planning Manager at 685.7405
