RATTLESNAKES

City of Midland Animal Services has recently responded to a number of calls concerning rattlesnakes.

Lately, there has been an increase in the number of rattlesnake calls. Animal Services has removed 19 rattlesnakes inside the city limits since August 1st.

Citizens are reminded that rattlesnakes are very dangerous and need to be handled by a professional.   The public should request assistance from Animal Services in regards to these situations.

All calls concerning snakes are considered a high priority call and an animal control officer will respond as quickly as possible.

The cause of the increase in rattlesnakes in the city limits is unknown, however it could be attributed to recent rains or increased construction.  The rattlesnakes have been located throughout the city in both residential and commercial areas.
