STUDENTS TOUR SCARBOROUGH/LINEBERY HOUSE
The City of Midland’s Scarborough/Linebery House will be the site for tours by M.I.S.D. third-grade students. The first tour begins on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. More tours will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through November 8, 2006.
These tours allow students the opportunity to experience family life in 1907 in Midland, Texas, by viewing antique furnishings, clothing and demonstrations that depict life in the early 1900’s. M.I.S.D. and the City of Midland work closely together to formulate a curriculum that will enhance third-grade students in history, citizenship, family, courage, and respect.
The media is invited to attend and help showcase the event.

CITY’S NEWEST MONDAY NIGHT MEETING PLACE
It is quickly becoming the place to be. Midland’s first ever off-leash dog park is proving to be a gathering point for not only dogs, but the owners as well.
Each evening, pet owners and their dogs enjoy the park. However, Monday evenings, beginning at around 7:00 p.m., dozens of pets can be seen playing while their owners socialize with others who have a common interest.
Recently, the City of Midland installed more benches to accommodate the crowds. Future improvements are on the way as more money is raised by Friends of the Dog Park. They continue to raise funds by selling brick pavers and are accepting donations toward the purchase of pet exercise equipment, more benches, shade structures, and other amenities.
The dog park consists of two fenced areas - 3.5 acres for dogs over 40 pounds and 1.5 acres for dogs less than 40 pounds. There are water stations for dogs and their owners, as well as, waste receptacles placed in each area.
The dog park opened in April 2006.
