CHIHUAHUA DELEGATION

The City of Midland will welcome a delegation from Chihuahua, Mexico on Monday, September 18, 2006.  The six members will include Chihuahua Mayor Juan Blanco along with representatives from economic development and the chamber of commerce.

At 11:30 a.m., a press conference will be held at the Petroleum Club, Room 4, 501 Wall St.  This is Mayor Blanco’s second visit to Midland since being sworn into office in October 2004.  He was last here in March 2005.

The one-day visit will also include a tour of south and southeast Midland development including the Greater Ideal Family Life Center, Bunche Early Childhood Center, the Coleman Clinic, as well as driving by Wal-Mart and South Pueblo housing; a visit to Automated Computer Professional (ACP) located in the old Texas Instruments building; and attending the groundbreaking of the Rankin Highway Visitor Center.  They will also visit the Museum of the Southwest to discuss the upcoming “Anthony Quinn’s Eye” project.  The collection will be a collaborative effort between the cities of Midland and Chihuahua, the Midland Chamber, and Midland Community Theatre.  The delegation will end their day at the Midland Odessa Transportation Alliance.

The Midland Chamber of Commerce and Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting the events.  The Hispanic Chamber hosted the delegation when they arrived on Sunday evening with dinner at Martinez Bakery.
