NIGHT BURN

The Midland Fire Department will conduct a night burn as part of the culmination of the 2006 Fire Academy.  The night burn will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2006, beginning at 8:00 p.m. at Harris Training Field, 3215 FM 307.

Eight students are currently in the Fire Academy that began in July.  The Midland Fire Department helps arrange the academy to help prepare students to take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection state certification exam.  The exam is set for October 19th.    Academy students can go through the testing process with the City of Midland to potentially be hired or put on the list to be hired.

The night burn has become a tradition to demonstrate to the students’ family and friends the skills they have learned in the academy.  Dinner will take place at 7:00 p.m. followed by demonstrations of structural fire attack, structural search and rescue, vehicle extrications, and liquefied petroleum gas fire attack. 

The actual academy graduation will be conducted on October 20th.
