LOST PETS BACK ONLINE

Citizens can once again access the City of Midland Animal Services: Lost Pets. The webpage can be viewed by going to www.MidlandTexas.gov and clicking on Lost Pets under Online Services.

The City recently launched a new website and improved the Animal Services page.  Visitors to the site will be given a choice between Lost Dogs, Lost Cats, or Other Lost Animals. All lost animals will have their picture and a detailed description plus the location where the animal was found.

Citizens who are missing a pet are encouraged to visit the Website first in an attempt to locate their lost animal.  Positive identification must then be made in person.

Anyone interested in adopting an animal should visit the shelter in person after viewing the animal on the website to interact with the animal they are considering adopting.

Animal Services will adopt out stray animals (animals that arrive at the shelter with no identification) after they have been at the shelter the required three business days.  Owned animals are held 10 business days in an attempt to contact their owners.  However, if the owner does not claim the animal, these animals are allowed to be adopted out as well.  Animal Services reserves the right to adopt out any animal.  Animal Services will not adopt out any animal that has a propensity to bite, scratch or injure any person or other animal.

NOVEMBER SALES TAX REVENUES
The City of Midland has collected this month's revenue from the State Comptroller's Office.  The total amount of revenue received was $2,003,166.

This month's figure reflects a 23.97% increase or a $387,290 increase from November 2005.

The year-to-date total sales tax revenue for fiscal year 2006-2007 is up 20.30% or a $592,339 increase from last year's totals at this time.  Fiscal year-to-date actual sales tax revenue is $3,510,118.

Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax income from two months prior to collection; November collection is based on September sales.

This is the 38th consecutive month of increased sales tax revenues when compared to the same month the prior year.

*** This is the second largest single month sales tax receipt the City has ever received.  The largest was in February 2006 for December 2005 sales.  The amount received in February was $2,183,865.
