TEXAS RECYCLES DAY
Part Five – Texas Recycles Week

Clean out your garage, closets, or office space.  It’s Texas Recycles Day!  On Saturday, November 18, 2006, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents are encouraged to drop off their old computers, printers, hard drives, TVs, cell phones, and other electronics to the north parking lot of Midland College, 3600 N. Garfield.

The 4th annual event is organized and hosted by Keep Midland Beautiful. Volunteers will also be collecting tires, paper, newspaper, phone books, cardboard, and aluminum for recycling at that time.  Goodwill of West Texas will also collect reusable items at the site.

Paint and batteries will NOT be collected this year.  Paint can be taken directly to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore – 904 W. Florida.  Batteries can be taken to Mid -Tex Battery Company – 1410 W. Front.

Texas Recycles Day is an annual statewide public awareness campaign to promote the environmental and economic benefits of the Four R’s - reduce, reuse, recycle, rebuy.  This year’s theme is “GROWING RECYCLING IN TEXAS”!

Sponsors include Wal-Mart, Butts Recycling, PBRPC, TCEQ, and the City of Midland.  Bill Williams Tire Center will once again help with tire recycling.

Media opportunities will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  For more information, call 687.7400.

Keep Midland Beautiful educates and engages Midlanders in litter prevention, waste management and beautification.  For more information see our website at keepmidlandbeautiful.org
