MPD OFFICER RECEIVES STATE TSA AWARD
A long-time Midland Police Officer will travel to Lubbock to be recognized by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at the Clarion Hotel, 505 Ave. Q, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

20-year veteran Belinda Boone will be honored with the LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) of the Year Award.  An officer at Midland International Airport, she was nominated by the TSA staff in Midland.  The essay they submitted about Boone was judge along with nominations from Amarillo, Lubbock, San Angelo, and Abilene.  She rose above the competition. 

The 56 TSA employees in Midland work with the MPD at the security checkpoint as well as throughout the entire airport.  Boone is known for her professionalism, outstanding customer service, and her willingness to work with anyone.  She truly sets an example for others to follow.

Please help us in recognizing this officer’s accomplishment! 


DECK CITY HALLS WITH BOUGHS OF HOLLY
Visitors and employees alike can’t help but notice the transformation at Midland City Hall.  Employees are competing in the second annual “floor decorating” contest.  The employees on each of the six floors of City Hall have joined forces and the result will have you taking a second look!  Judging will take place on Monday, December 18, 2006, at 10:30 a.m.

The first floor lobby is lit up with hundreds of clear lights and a Christmas tree; the second floor features Happy Feet with a penguins galore; the third floor will have you star struck with a Hollywood Christmas; the fourth floor features the classic Grinch Who Stole Christmas; and the fifth floor will have you Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.  The basement is a work in progress with a big surprise promised by judging time. 

Braggin’ rights, and a catered lunch party, are on the line for the winner of the contest. 

The public is invited to stop by during the month of December to view the work. 


FLU SHOTS
It’s not too late to receive your flu shot.  The City of Midland has still has a supply of the flu vaccination.  Midland residents are encouraged to receive their flu shot during normal business hours at the Midland Health Department.

Flu season typically runs from November thru March.  The cost of the flu vaccine is $ 15.00; however, a Medicare card will be accepted in lieu of payment.
