PROMOTIONS CEREMONY
The Midland Police Department will promote three of its own.

A ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2007, at 3:00 p.m.  The event will take place in the third floor conference room at the Midland Police Department.

Sgt. Ray Leible will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  Ray has been with the Department 11 years.  He will be transferring from Field Operations Bureau/Patrol Division to Support Services Bureau/Airport Division to replace Lt. Damon Shupp who recently retired.

Officer Pete Cordova will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Pete has been with the Department 22 years and will be replacing Lt. Leible.

Officer Greg Chatwell will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Greg has been with the Department 10 years and will be replacing Sgt. Mike McLain who retired in December 2006.

The media is invited to attend and help make this a special moment for the department.

MID-SEASON SHOTS
Mid-way through the flu season, Midland Health & Senior Services are reminding people that it is still important to take precautions against the viral illness.

Flu season typically runs October through March, and vaccinations can be given at any time during this period, or later as long as the vaccine has not reached its expiration date.

While the season in Texas has been relatively light so far, the peak for flu illnesses in Texas is usually January and February but could run longer.
