HEALTH DEPARTMENT REMINDS CITIZENS OF PROPER RESPIRATORY CARE
Many people, children and adults, experience upper respiratory infections during this time of year. Inconvenient as they are, these infections usually clear with treatment of symptoms after a few days. Occasionally, a respiratory infection can appear fairly minor initially, but become pneumonia, a serious and even life-threatening illness. Even healthy persons can develop pneumonia; those who have other chronic illnesses will be even more vulnerable.
Any adult or child with a respiratory infection should seek medical attention promptly if the illness seems to be getting worse instead of better. Infections accompanied by unrelenting high fever, listlessness, poor fluid intake, and difficulty breathing especially warrant medical intervention which may involve antibiotics and hospitalization.
Respiratory infections spread by contact, so minimize the spread by keeping hands clean and staying at home as much as possible.
STOLEN PROPERTY
In an effort to return stolen property to the rightful owners, the Midland Police Department will hold a public property viewing on Tuesday February 20, 2007, from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the basement of the Midland Police Department.
The property was seized during recent arrests and the execution of a residential search warrant. Property includes electronics, tools, clothes, and many other items.
Police encourage residents who were victims of auto burglaries from November 1, 2006, through February 11, 2007, especially in the area around Goddard Jr. High, Emerson Elementary, and Grassland Estates, to attend the viewing. It is believed that a majority of the property is related to incidents of auto burglaries in these areas.
Proof of ownership will help speed up the process (receipts, serial numbers, or other kinds of markings that help identify the property). If someone was a victim of a theft, residential, or auto burglary, and didn't file a police report, yet can prove the property on display is theirs, the MPD will generate a report and release the property.
MORE BURGLARS ARRESTED
