DOG PARK NAMING CONTEST
The winners of the dog park naming contest will be announced at a presentation set for Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Hogan’s Run Dog Park.

The media is encouraged to attend and help make this a special event. 

A total of 692 entries were received during the month-long competition.  Both the Animal Services Advisory Board and the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board recommended Hogan’s Run and the City Council approved the naming at the March 20th meeting.

This is the first time the City has hosted a contest to name a city park.  Park names traditionally originate from a family who donates land for a park, a large monetary contributor for the park construction, or is named after a sports enthusiasts or civic contributor. 

The winner of the contest will receive a variety of prizes including free micro chipping for their pets, a design brick at the park, a night in a luxury suite at a RockHounds game, RockHounds hat and shirt, and a leash and collar from PetsMart, and a two night stay at the Happy Paws Pet Hotel in the Luxury Suite. 

Midland’s first ever off-leash dog park will celebrate its one-year-anniversary in April.
