Midland Fire Department Gets Physical
Elliptical Machine Part of Donation Package by Arthur J. Gallagher
 and Fireman’s Fund

MIDLAND, Texas (April 3, 2007) – Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc. and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company will award a $5,000 grant to the Midland Fire Department for the purchase of an elliptical exercise machine.

The purchase of the elliptical exercise equipment is part of the Midland Fire Department Physical Training and Improved Health Program. Firefighting is a physically demanding job that requires not only mental, but physical strength and stamina. According to the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), research demonstrates the need for firefighters to take part in a fitness program to perform their jobs safely.  Firefighters’ extended hours, high-intensity work and strong emotional involvement make firefighting one of the most stressful occupations in the world.

“I am excited that the Midland Fire Department will be receiving this much-needed equipment,” said Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Klatt. “Our firefighters work hard to stay in the best shape possible which is needed when responding to the needs of the citizens of Midland. We are excited about the purchase of the elliptical machine and extremely grateful to Arthur J. Gallagher and Fireman’s Fund for this generous donation.”

The grant will be presented during a special recognition event:
