SEAL COATING UPDATE
Beginning Monday, August 27, 2007, the City of Midland will begin the second week of this year’s seal coating project. The target area will include:

Mockingbird Lane from Midland Drive to Midkiff Road
Holiday Hill Road from Loop 250 to Briarwood
Midkiff Road from Mockingbird lane to Loop 250
Midland Drive from Island Drive to Loop 250

Oriole Drive and Briarwood Avenue have been sealed.

The target area for this year will include arterials and collector streets within the area of Holiday Hill Road to Midkiff Road from Loop 250 to the North city limits.

The entire project is expected to last two weeks.  Motorists should exercise caution and drive slowly when traveling through these areas.  Flagmen will assist in directing the flow of traffic.

An oil and two percent latex solution is used with crushed gravel on top.  This increases the longevity of Midland’s existing streets, adding 15-20 years of life and reducing reconstruction costs.

Seal coating takes place in different areas of the city each year.  The same area receives treatment every six or seven years.
