FATALITY ACCIDENT
Midland Police were called to the scene of a fatality accident at 8:04 a.m. today, October 22, 2007.  The accident took place near Lamesa and I-20.

A 2003 GMC pickup, driven by 49-year-old Daniel Palomino of Midland, was traveling eastbound on the north service road of the Interstate.  Palomino traveled through a yield sign, failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.  His vehicle struck head on with a 2003 Suburban driven by 33-year-old Shara Elliott of Midland.  Elliott’s one-year old child was also in the vehicle.  Elliott was traveling westbound on the service road, attempting to enter the on ramp to the Interstate when she was struck.

Palomino was pronounced dead at the scene.  Elliott and her infant child were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All the persons involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.

100 YEARS OF QUILTS
The City of Midland’s Scarborough/Linebery House, 802 S. Main, is hosting an event Thursday, October 25, 2007, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., that celebrates “100 Years of Heritage.”

The public is invited to enjoy our west Texas heritage through a display of beautiful and historical quilts gathered by Jean Dean. The fee for the event is $1.00 per person plus $5.00 for a light lunch.

This particular event is honoring Juanita and Troy Parsons of Marfa, Texas. Mrs. Parsons is an award winning quilter who has displayed her quilts at the Scarborough/Linebery House at past events.

During 2007, the Scarborough/Linebery House is celebrating its 100th birthday (1907 – 2007), with monthly public events.  Citizens of Midland and the entire west Texas area are invited to celebrate with the City of Midland in recognizing this historic treasure.
