THEFT OF BUSINESS PRACTICE
The Midland Police Department is currently investigating a case involving a man who is accused of selling insurance policies and then not ever providing the policies.

44-year-old Robert Moore (6-14-63) was arrested and charged with Theft of Business Practice following the issuance of six warrants.  Since his arrest two months ago, detectives are working more than a dozen new cases.

Moore conducted business under the company name of Bob Moore Insurance and was located on Illinois Avenue.  According to the victims, Moore would provide insurance binders as the persons purchased insurance from him for their home.  He was paid out of escrow accounts and deposited the money into an account for himself instead of actually purchasing policies.

Anyone who purchased a policy from Bob Moore Insurance should check into their policy.  Anyone who was notified by their mortgage company at renewal time that they did not have a policy should contact Midland Police.

To report suspicion of Theft of Business Practice involving Robert “Bob” Moore, contact the Midland Police Department at 685.7108.

SWEARING-IN CEREMONY
The Midland Police Department will welcome four new officers.  The swearing-in ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 1, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. in the third floor classroom.

Carlos Pizana, Allen Lappe, Jeremy Swilling, and Clark Owen will take the oath of office.  Two attended the South Plains College Academy and two are experienced officers, one from Kermit and the other from Odessa.

They will move on to the Field Training Officer (FTO) program as Probationary Police Officers. During this time, they are teamed up with experienced MPD officers and are rated daily on their performance in the field as well as paper work.

The media is invited to attend and to help make this a special day for these officers.
