HOLIDAY VEHICLE SAFETY
Midland Police want to remind everyone of the importance of vehicle safety this holiday season.  As Christmas approaches, thieves will look for an easy target…make sure you and your family are not one of the victims.

There are some easy tips to follow; police would like to refresh everyone’s memory.

Lock Your Vehicle: Don’t make it too easy for a thief to open your car and steal what is inside.

Hide Inside Contents: Place packages and valuables inside the trunk.  If you do not have a trunk, use a blanket or cover up items.

Take Your Purse/Wallet With You: Don’t leave your wallet in the console or your purse on the seat or floorboard.

Park In a Lit Area: When out shopping, be sure to park in a well-lit area when possible.  When out and about shopping, park close to the entrance or in a high traffic area of the parking lot and if not, choose a spot under the lights.

Use Your Garage: If you have a garage, use it!  Too many times, residents fill their garages with unwanted items and park their vehicles outside.

Use Your Alarm:  Have a car alarm?  If so, set it.  Thieves do not like attention.

Officers can go into more detail for anyone interested in doing a vehicle safety story.  Thanks for your help in getting the word out.
