AGGRAVATED ROBBERY
Midland Police were called to the scene of an Aggravated Robberies today, December 27. 2007, at the Exxon station located at 1000 Andrews Highway.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., the suspect entered the store when no other customers were inside.  He selected a soft drink out and then went to the register to pay.  Instead of paying for the drink, he asked the clerk for all the money from the register while lifting up his jacket and displaying a gun stuck in the waistband of his pants.  The suspect fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his early 30’s, approximately 6-feet tall, medium build, and clean shaven.  At the time, he was dark jeans, a black baseball cap, and a black jacket.

Police believe the suspect is the same person responsible for the Aggravated Robberies of Kent Kwik and Subway on December 23 and the Payless Shoe Store and TCBY on December 16.

Detectives are seeking information about the suspect.  Anyone who knows information about the crimes or the person involved should contact the Midland Police Department at 685.7108 or Crimestoppers at 694.TIPS.

S.T.E.P. PROGRAM
The Midland Police Department will conduct a Special Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) beginning December 28, 2007, through January 4, 2008.  The New Year’s program will primarily focus on intersection traffic control and DWI.

The S.T.E.P. program is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation in the form grant that pays for overtime for officers to work the special enforcement.  The program has proven effective during past holiday weeks such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.
