AGGRAVATED ROBBERIES
Midland Police responded to two separate Aggravated Robberies last night, March 31, 2008.

The first occurred at 8:52 p.m. at the Payless Shoe Store, 900 N. Midland Drive.  A male subject walked into the store armed with a pistol and pepper spray.  He demanded cash from the clerk and fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash in a two-toned SUV.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., the same male subject walked into the Albertson’s at 3317 N. Midland Drive.  This time, he was armed with pepper spray and was accompanied by a female suspect who was armed with a handgun.  The clerk opened the cash drawer, the male suspect sprayed the clerk with the pepper spray, the suspects took an undetermined amount of cash, and they fled the scene in a vehicle matching the description of the first Aggravated Robbery.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., patrol officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle.  Inside were 33-year-old Jeffrey Terry (10.11.74) and 29-year-old Christi Terry (2.21.79).  Also inside the 1997 two-tone black and tan Chevrolet Suburban was clothing worn in the Aggravated Robberies and pepper spray.

Both suspects were interviewed by detectives and are cooperating with police.  They are charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery and other charges are pending.  It is believed they are also tied to four other Aggravated Robberies including the 7-11 at 809 S. Midkiff on March 21, 2008; Little Ceaser’s at 1000 N. Midkiff on March 22, 2008; and two at the Kent Kwik at 1500 W. Front on March 24 and March 28, 2008.

PUBLIC MEETING
A rock wall, an indoor wave pool with water features, a teen center, digital games, coffee shop, exercise classes, art classes, and family activities.  These are only some of the possibilities for renovations of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Citizens are encouraged to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at the community center, 2300 Butternut Lane, to voice their opinions on what the renovations should include.

The City has hired a firm to look at designing a new community center including programming in which to offer citizens.  The design firm will be at the meeting as well as city staff and they want to hear from the public.  All the comments and suggestions will be considered when developing ideas for new programming and a new facility.

Suggestions can also be emailed to the city by visiting the website at www.midlandtexas.gov and clicking on the icon link on the homepage.
