WATER 101
Before you set the sprinkler timer this spring or even jump into the shower, the City of Midland is hoping you will take the time to watch a brief video (six minutes) aimed at sharing water conservation and water supply information to residents.

Every Drop Counts is available for viewing online at www.midlandtexas.gov and on the city’s cable access station channel 2 for Suddenlink customers and channel six for Grande subscribers.

As a society, we have become more and more environmentally conscious and better informed about the effect our lifestyles can have on the world around us. Yet, the demand for our most valuable natural resource, drinking water, continues to grow while local supplies can be threatened by drought conditions.  Every Drop Counts helps citizens understand how they can make a difference.

RUN FROM THE COPS
The Midland Police Department is hosting a 5K/1K fun run to benefit Safe Place of Midland.  The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 10:00 a.m.

This is your opportunity to get in a “foot pursuit” with police.  Anyone interested in participating is asked to contact the Permian Basin Running Club at their website http://pbrunningclub.tripod.com.

It is a chance for the MPD to help out a local organization.  Many of the calls for service center on family violence situations.  Safe Place is just one agency in which they have daily contact.

This is the first year for the run.  Officers hope the fundraiser will become an annual event.
