MAY 2nd SPECIAL MEETING
The City Council will meet at 8:15 a.m. on May 2, 2008, in special session.  The City Council will consider one item, calling a special election for one city official, a Council Member to serve At-Large.

The Council will establish polling places and set the date of the election.

The meeting follows last week’s resignation of City Council Member At-Large Bill Dingus.

CREDIT CARD ABUSE
Midland Police have arrested a women in connection with credit card abuse involving her employer.

40-year-old Maria Sanchez Aguirre (11.17.67) was arrested today, April 29, 2008, on two counts of credit card abuse.  A search warrant was executed at her residence in the 3700 block of Todd earlier today.

The investigation began when Aguirre’s employer, Prime Energy, contacted the police department with evidence that the accounts payable employee had stolen approximately $100,000 in fuel, cash, and merchandise from the business. Documents obtained revealed that Aguirre had made numerous unauthorized credit card transactions using company credit cards. Documents also showed that Aguirre had issued numerous Prime Energy checks to individuals without authorization. 

The investigation is ongoing and other charges and arrests are pending.
