AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON
Midland Police were called to 5101 N. “A” Street early this morning, June 4, 2008, in reference to a disturbance involving a weapon.

When police arrived they learned of a verbal argument between the resident of #245 and those in the apartment directly below in #145.  A group of people were outside of the apartments when the suspect stepped out on his balcony and displayed a weapon.  The victims then fled back inside and called police at which point the suspect fired two rounds with a shotgun from inside his apartment through the floor.  The victims fled the apartment and police arrived.

The suspect walked out unarmed and was identified by victims.  He was taken into custody without incident.  22-year-old Bruce Mata (9.13.85) was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

No one was injured during the incident.  Police did recover the shotgun used in the crime.
