CITY EMPLOYEES AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS
Thanks to the generosity of City of Midland employees, ten college bound students are the lucky recipients of this year’s Midland Municipal Employees Scholarships. A reception honoring the students and their parents will be held on July 24, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. The Midland Municipal Employees Scholarship Fund (MMESF) recipients will be awarded $500 each - a total of $5,000! Mayor Wes Perry will speak to the group of students. MMESF is an independent, non-profit organization, relying totally on contributions from its members, who must be City of Midland employees. To date, that generosity has resulted in 195 scholarships totaling $102,300 since MMESF’s inception in 1995. Recipients are all dependents of City of Midland employees. MMESF members contribute $1 or more per pay period. The following are this year’s scholarship recipients: Clarissa Ann Anderson daughter of Bill & Pat Anderson; Amanda Michelle Estrada daughter of David & Alicia Estrada; Sarah Ortega daughter of Eduardo & Delia Ortega; Mallory Ruth Rowland daughter of Sydney & Richard Rowland; Tara Sloane Rowland daughter of Sydney & Richard Roland; Mollie Marie Shelton daughter of Kevin & Tammy Shelton; Geoffrey K. Thompson son of Gregory Thompson & Melissa K. Light; Clayton McKinley Wilson son of Ronnie & Cynthia Wilson; Katie Rhea Wilson daughter of Ronnie & Cynthia Wilson; and Jhordan L. Wright daughter of Angela & George Wright.
