SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD
Today, February 4, 2009, officials with the Midland Independent School District contacted officers with the Midland Police Department regarding an outcry from a 14-year-old female student against an M.I.S.D. employee.

The outcry involved alleged inappropriate conduct on the part of the M.I.S.D. employee.  Upon receiving this information, the Midland Police Department opened an investigation.  This investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Angel Ramirez (5-2-78).  The M.I.S.D. Police Officer is charged with Sexual Assault of a Child and Improper Student/Teacher Relationship.

The incident occurred between September 2008 and January 2009 at a north Midland residence.

CODE VIOLATION INSERT
Ever wondered what the rules are regarding parking a vehicle in a yard, how many garage sales per year are allowed, or how to report graffiti?  The information is coming right to your mailbox during the month of February.

The Code Enforcement flyer will be inserted into all city water bills from February 5 – 29, 2009.  The two-sided, English & Spanish, flyer explains a number of violations, rules, and actions.  Officials are hoping that by arming residents with this information, they can help maintain the beauty and cleanliness of our neighborhoods.

Topics addressed include: Weeds & Grass, Junk Vehicles, Parking in the Yard, Recreational Vehicles, Debris, Nuisance Water, Garage/Estate Sales, Graffiti, and Large Item Pick-Up.

Residents are encouraged to report violations to the city through the Citizen Action Center at 685.7474 or online at www.midlandtexas.gov.

ATTEMPT TO LOCATE
The Midland Police Department needs the public’s help in locating a 15-year-old female.

Mariah K. Garcia (3-12-93) was last seen on January 26, 2009.  The runaway report was filed with the Midland Police Department on January 26.

It has been brought to the attention of authorities that the young girl has a medical condition which could become life threatening if not treated.

She is described as a Hispanic female, 5’7” tall, and weighing 147 pounds.  Garcia has highlighted brown hair (a little longer than shoulder length).

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts should contact Midland Police at 685.7108 or Crimestoppers at 694.TIPS.
