TREE DONATION
The City of Midland will be looking a bit greener thanks to the generosity of a local business.  TXU Energy is donating 25 trees to be planted in city parks.  A tree planting ceremony will be held on April 17, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Lancaster Park, 3501 W. Kansas.

Five trees will be planted at Lancaster Park and the others will be planted in various parks.  The donation consists of five Desert Willows, 10 Lacebark Elms, and 10 Bur Oaks.  All are 30-gallon trees.

The donation by TXU Energy helps kick off the Urban Forestry Program with the City.  Each year, TXU Energy, Texas Trees Foundation, and community volunteers plant thousands of seedlings.  They are maintained at the TXU Energy Urban Tree Farm until they are ready to be planted throughout the community.

Keep Midland Beautiful will be on hand to present TXU Energy with a certificate.  This is the first tree donation to the City of Midland by TXU Energy.
