H1N1 FLU SHOT CLINIC
|The City of Midland Health and Senior Services Department will provide H1N1 vaccine (NASAL-MIST) to children ages two (2) and three (3) of Midland. The clinic will be offered on the following day:
October 12, 2009
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Midland Health Department
3303 W. Illinois, Kingsway Mall
At this time the Health Department only has 100 doses. The first 100 children ages two and three will receive the vaccination.
The Midland Health & Senior Services will accept Medicaid.
HOMICIDE
EMS crews and police were called to the scene of a stabbing this morning, October 6, 2009, at 6:49 a.m. just east of the intersection of Midland Drive and Wall Street. A passing motorist noticed a red truck parked on the cement embankment and went to check on the driver. She called for help.
The driver of the truck, 45-year-old James Thomas of Midland, was discovered in the driver’s seat of the truck, with the vehicle running, doors shut, and still in the drive gear. He had suffered multiple cuts, stab wounds, to his face and neck area.
The 2007 Dodge Ram truck was borrowed from an acquaintance last night.
An autopsy has been ordered. Police collected evidence at the scene and will further process the vehicle.
Little is known about Thomas’ whereabouts last night and this morning before the body was discovered. Police are asking the public for help in providing any details that would help further along the investigation and locate a suspect in the homicide.
STABBING
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on October 5, 2009, Midland Police responded to a stabbing at 1515 Carter Street.
Detectives were advised that several people were walking to 1515 Carter for meeting. Three Hispanic males approached them wanting to know if they were gang members. The three Hispanic males attacked the group with rocks and one suspect stabbed one man with a knife. The suspects fled the scene.
The victim, 29-year-old Chad Smith was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to the back.
