BATTLE OF THE BADGES
Wednesday is the day – the Midland Fire Department will settle the score with the Midland Police Department.  On October 21, 2009, beginning at 11:30 a.m., the Fire Department will serve chili to the Police Department at Central Fire – 1500 W. Wall St.

The event is the result of a “lost bet.”  The second annual Battle of the Badges was held in September.  The two departments competed to see who could collect the most units of blood for United Blood Services by hosting blood drives and soliciting donors.

During this year’s event, the Police Department gathered 74 units of blood while the Fire Department rounded up 15 units.  As a result, the staff at the Midland Fire Department is treating the winning donors from the Midland Police Department to home cooked chili.
