BECOME OUR FAN
The City of Midland has launched a new digital communication strategy, using social media to get information to an ever-growing online community.

If you visit the City of Midland’s home page, www.midlandtexas.gov, you will notice a new Online Media Center. Here you will find several social media applications. The City is now on Nixle, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. In addition, you can subscribe to several E-Newsletters.

Taking into consideration the number of people online, the City understands the need to reach out to the online demographic.  In today’s technology driven society, fewer people are utilizing traditional media like newspaper and television; instead they are getting their news online.

Not only is this new technology needed to keep up with a growing audience, but also it is very cost efficient. Applications like Nixle, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube are completely free of charge.

According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, in 2008, approximately, 45% of 70-75 year olds were online, which is up 19% from 2005. These numbers dramatically increase with younger generations. 93% of teens and 87% of 30-40 year olds were online in 2008.

You can find all social media applications online by visiting the City of Midland’s Online Media Center at www.midlandtexas.gov.

Connect with the City of Midland online and spread the word.
