FELONY THEFT
The Midland Police Department White Collar Division arrested two women and charged them with Theft over $1,500.

Arrest warrants were issued last week for 26-year-old Linda Jaime (6-14-83) and 29-year-old Sylvia Lopez (6-27-80) both of Midland.  The women were employed with Pronto Check Cashing of Midland when they committed Western Union Money Transfer Fraud.  Jaime and Lopez would randomly search for recipient names of money transfers and then used their identity to withdraw the funds.  The victim would later go to pick up their money only to find out that somebody else had already retrieved it.

The investigation found that the criminal activity started back in August of 2009 involving approximately 15 victims from cities all over the state of Texas and New Mexico.   Theft totals over $33,000.  After the fraud was discovered and warrants were issued Western Union was able to reimburse the victims for their loss.

The case has been handed over to the Midland County District Attorney for prosecution.
