INTERSECTION REOPENS
The intersection of Garfield Street and Golf Course Road is open to through traffic. The intersection has been closed since November 14th.
The westbound outside lane of Golf Course Road will remain closed a little longer while additional repairs are made to the surface.
On November 14th, a sinkhole was caused by the failure of a storm sewer drain pipe. The pipe rusted through on the bottom, allowing two pipe sections to slip apart. The result was rainwater escaping under the roadway until a hole appeared in the street.
Traffic had been detoured through the areas surrounding the intersection while workers replaced the entire pipe in the intersection.
