Pedestrian Accident
At 9:03 pm, September 16th, the Midland Police Department responded to a pedestrian accident at Midland Drive and Wadley.
Charles Pawlowski, 40-years old, was crossing the intersection on the west side of Midland Drive and Wadley from south to north, when he was struck by a 2006 Toyota Prius driven by Dennis Bade, 62-years old, traveling eastbound on Wadley.
The Toyota was passing through the intersection on a green signal, which places the pedestrian in violation of state law.
Pawlowski was transported to Midland Memorial by EMS in critical condition. He was later airlifted to Lubbock in stable condition for further treatment.
There are no charges pending at this time.
Street Closure
The Level-Up on Neely between Garfield and I Street that was to take place today was postponed due to the rain. The Level-Up will now begin on Saturday, September 18th at Big Spring St. and continue west on Neely to A Street.
Neely between Big Spring and A Street will be closed starting Saturday, September 18th and Monday, September 19th, allowing workers to level up the roadway, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured through the adjacent neighborhood.
The roadway will only be closed during the day, and will open back up to through traffic each night.
It is advised motorists who normally use Neely between Big Spring and A Street during the day should use an alternate route during this time.
Please observe and obey all traffic signs and detours during this maintenance period.
The City of Midland Transportation Division will be continuing the annual Level-Up project. It will provide protection to the driving surface of the roadway, thus creating a smoother ride for motorists.
