MPD Arrests One for Two Counts of Aggravated Robbery
On Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 6:51pm, Midland Police responded to the parking garage located at 500 W. Illinois. The victim a white male was approached by a male wearing a bandana covering his face and a white hoodie covering his head. The male indicated by his action that he had a weapon, possibly a handgun wrapped in the sleeve of the hoodie. The victim described the robber as a black or dark skinned Hispanic male about 5'10 around 110 lbs.
The robber demanded money and when the victim told him he had no cash, the victim showed the robbery suspect his wallet and when he saw there was no cash the robber walked away and while doing so turned and again pointed what the victim thought to be a weapon at him before walking away and letting the victim go. The victim called police who started setting up a perimeter several blocks around the scene.
At 7:17pm, another robbery was reported from the area of the Bar located at 606 W. Missouri, this location is about 4 blocks south of the first robbery scene. The description of the robbery suspect matched the first robbery, and during this robbery the assailant jumped a white female as she walked through the alley, he grabbed the women's purse, a struggle over the purse ensued and the women was violently thrown to the ground and the robbery suspect fled northbound from the scene.
Police officers who were already set in a perimeter were alerted that a maintenance shack located at 508 W. Wall had been broken into and that is where the suspect later identified as Billy Tomlee Turner Black male DOB 7-26-79 was located and detained.
Turner was taken to the police department and interviewed by detectives and later booked into the Midland County jail on two charges of Aggravated Robbery.
