MIDLAND, TEXAS -- At around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, Midland Police responded to a motorcycle accident in the 3300 block of West Front Street.
Callers had advised Midland Police “that the operator of a motorcycle was driving erratically” and that the motorcyclist “struck a curb and went airborne with the motorcycle landing on the sole occupant.”
MPD officers reported that bystanders were able to separate the operator from the motorcycle prior to it catching fire. The operator -- later identified as 41-year-old Kevin D. Kelley of Midland County -- was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries early Sunday.
Next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
