MPD: MAN GOES TO JAIL AFTER INCIDENT IN WEST MIDLAND

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- At approximately 9:52 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, Midland Police officers were dispatched to west Midland in reference to a disturbance with weapon.
Midland Police reported that the incident in the 1900 block of North Midland Drive included a male subject armed with a knife and not allowing his girlfriend to leave the apartment.
“Officers arrived and observed both subjects through an open door,” MPD reported. “The male subject immediately slammed the door on officers and began making verbal threats to harm officers with a knife and a gun. Officers forced entry into the apartment and successfully removed the female subject from the apartment before the male slammed the door again and barricaded himself inside the apartment.”
After approximately one hour of negotiations, 40-year-old Jason Williams surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.
Williams was transported to the Midland County Jail, where he was booked on multiple charges stemming from this incident. No other information is available at this time.
