DECEMBER PASSENGER TOTAL AT MIDLAND INTERNATIONAL AIR & SPACE PORT JUMPS 33% IN TWO YEARS

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The number of passengers flying airlines out of Midland International Air & Space Port in December has increased 33.5% since 2022, according to numbers released this month.
The 66,322 passengers in December 2024 not only represented a 7.46% increase over December 2023 (61,716) but dwarfed the total from December 2022 (49,675).
Airport officials also showed the number of passengers flying out of Midland set another record as 196,926 passengers were recorded in the first quarter of fiscal year 2024-25 – a 6.94% increase over the first three months of FY 2023-24.
Southwest Airlines carried the largest share of passengers, with around 45% of the total in December. Southwest, United, American Eagle and Delta all fly into and out of Midland International Air & Space Port.
City officials also reported that parking revenue at Midland International Air & Space Port increased 20.18% in December (compared to December 2023). The $736,467 in net parking revenue increased the fiscal year-to-date total to $2.16 million, a 9.74% increase compared to the first quarter of FY 2024.
The extra funding from increased passengers and parking will help with infrastructure improvements at Midland International Air & Space Port – including terminal modernization, the passenger screening relocation and parking additions.
