TEXAS HOMELESS NETWORK RELEASES 2025 REPORT FOR MIDLAND
(April 8, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Texas Homeless Network (THN) has officially released the results of the 2025 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, revealing that 300 individuals in Midland are experiencing homelessness.
This includes 89 children, 157 adults, and 54 seniors. Among them, 14 are veterans, 42 individuals are chronically homeless, 239 individuals are sheltered and 61 remain unsheltered.
The 2025 count also showed significant changes from last year:
• 41 fewer people experiencing homelessness compared to 2024.
• 36 more individuals staying in shelters in 2025.
• 77 fewer unsheltered individuals compared to last year.
These numbers suggest a shift in the homeless population, with some individuals accessing shelters or others finding stable housing. However, various factors, such as relocation or other circumstances, may also contribute to these changes.
The PIT Count is a nationwide initiative required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and coordinated in Texas by THN. This year, the Midland Homeless Coalition, alongside dedicated volunteers and service providers, worked together to conduct the count in response to THN’s call for participation. Teams surveyed individuals in shelters and on the streets to ensure an accurate and comprehensive assessment.
"The Midland Homeless Coalition remains committed to serving our community with transparency, integrity, and compassion," the Coalition stated. "By participating in the PIT Count, we ensure that real data informs local efforts to support those experiencing homelessness."
Homelessness is a complex challenge that requires collaboration and ongoing community engagement. The Midland Homeless Coalition thanks all the volunteers who contributed to this effort and continues working toward long-term solutions for those in need.
