Transit District reports decrease in EZ-Rider bus passengers

EZ-RIDER USE IN MIDLAND DROPS IN MARCH

(April 25, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- EZ-Rider fixed-route ridership decreased in March (compared to March 2024), according to the Midland-Odessa Urban Transit District.

The MOUTD reported that fixed-route public transportation use in Midland has dropped from 11,191 in October to 8,992 in March. Year over year, ridership in March was down 16.6% compared to March 2024 (the decrease was around 7% in Odessa). The MOUTD also reported fixed-route ridership in Midland was comparable to Odessa. Paratransit ridership in Midland did increase 22.9% year-over-year in March.

EZ-Rider is the bus system in both Midland and Odessa. The Midland-Odessa Urban Transit District operates the system. The City of Midland helps fund EZ-Rider operations.
