MPD reports dramatic decrease in crashes in July

MPD REPORTS FEWEST CRASHES IN YEARS IN JULY

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The number of crashes in July 2024 was the fewest in Midland during a month going back to January 2021.

Midland Police have reported that the decrease in crashes is part a trend that includes:

  • The two lowest two-month total since March 2021,
  • A 20% decrease compared to July 2023,
  • A pace this calendar year that 11% lower than through 2023,
  • A pace that is the lowest since 2021.

MPD reports 183 crashes in July. That total was the first under 200 in a month, going back to January 2022 (198). Only the 180 in January 2021 was lower than this past month.
