MIDLAND POLICE ARREST TWO TEENS AFTER DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Two teenagers have been arrested for murder following the fatal drive-by shooting Saturday night.

At 11:33 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, Midland Police responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Howard Drive in southwest Midland.

At the scene, officers found a 22-year-old woman from Midland – Savanna Callaway -- in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle deceased from gunshot wounds.

MPD reported this week that detectives investigating the murder were able to develop a description of the actor vehicle used by the suspects during the shooting.

“On Oct. 20, 2024, Detectives located the suspect vehicle at Airline Mobile Home Park located at 7100 Airline Drive,” MPD reported. “The vehicle, described as a black 2017 Chevrolet 3500 bearing was parked in front of the residence. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and vehicle. Upon executing the search warrant two suspects identified as Ivan Galindo and Joe-Daniel Gutierrez were detained. Evidence related to the shooting/ murder was located.”

MPD also reported that Galindo, 18, and Gutierrez, 17, were interviewed, and both were subsequently arrested for murder, first-degree felony offense.

The investigation is on-going. Next of kin have been notified.
