ANIMAL SERVICES ANNOUNCES RESCUE RUNNERS TO START AGAIN IN APRIL
(March 25, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Rescue Runners is back.
Midland Animal Service has brought back the twice-a-month park passes for selected shelter dogs. Rescue Runners is a volunteer program aimed at recruiting individuals to walk or run with shelter dogs.
“Recognizing the stressful nature of the shelter environment, this program provides vital enrichment and aids in improving the dogs' social skills,” the city states on its website. “These outings offer a glimpse into the dogs' personalities outside the kennel, which can significantly boost fostering and adoption efforts.”
There is a change in the Rescue Runners program, which will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month (beginning April 5, 2025) at Midland Animal Services, 1200 N. Fairgrounds. Up to 15 dogs will be allowed out, and a person or couple will be allowed one dog during a Rescue Runners session.
