THIRD TSA LINE DROPPING WAIT TIMES AT MIDLAND INTERNATIONAL AIR & SPACE PORT

(June 24, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- A third Transportation Security Administration security lane has opened inside the terminal at Midland International Air & Space Port, and the results include shorter wait time for airlines passengers.

Airport officials cite TSA reports that show a third security lane has lowered wait times during the busiest periods of the day by as much as 40%.

For instance, between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on June 19 and June 20, TSA screened more than 380 passengers and the wait time dropped by an average of 18 minutes (compared to one week earlier).

Airport officials previously reported the airport is again on pace to set a new record for passengers this fiscal year. In fact, TSA officials reported screening 3,340 passengers on June 20 alone.

The City of Midland is set to modernize the terminal with a $50 million upgrade that includes the addition of up to six new security lanes including a designated Precheck lane. The new checkpoint will be added to the South end of the existing terminal building.

The City of Midland still recommends passengers arrive early to allow for ample time to find a parking spot, check baggage and make it through the checkpoint.
