Born and raised in Midland, Councilwoman Amy Stretcher Burkes is deeply committed to serving her community and advocating for the residents of District 4—one of the fastest-growing areas in the city. A graduate of Midland College, she went on to earn a degree in Human Resources and Development from Texas A&M University in 2009. As a strong advocate for responsible growth and development, Amy is focused on ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with District 4’s rapid expansion, including projects like the highly anticipated Costco development. She is committed to securing the resources needed to maintain and enhance roads, utilities, and public services so that Midland remains a great place to live and work. Amy is actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for Midland Teen Court and as a sustaining member of the Junior League of Midland. She is also a member of the Midland County Republican Women and was honored to serve as the 2024 Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention. A devoted mother to three daughters—Betsy, Lacey, and Brecklyn—Amy values family and faith as the foundation of her life. She and her family attend Midland Bible Church, where she remains engaged in the church community. As the representative for District 4, Amy is dedicated to ensuring that Midland continues to grow strategically and sustainably while prioritizing the needs of her constituents. She is passionate about keeping Midland a place where families and businesses can thrive for generations to come.
