CITY ANNOUNCES ITS PARTICIPATION IN BASIN BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM
(Sept. 25, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Basin Beautification Project is an initiative by the Cities of Midland and Odessa -- alongside Ector and Midland Counties -- to create cleaner, safer and more beautiful communities across the Permian Basin.
Midland County Judge Terry Johnson, Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett, Midland Mayor Lori Blong and Odessa Mayor Cal Hendrick are leading the effort and introduced the program at an event Thursday at the CEED Building on the University of Texas Permian Basin’s Midland campus.
Through education, partnership and collective action, the project will:
- Reduce litter and debris,
- Strengthen community pride,
- Revitalize shared spaces,
- Support economic vitality and public safety.
Basin Beautification is about more than appearances; it’s about quality of life, collaboration and building a stronger, more united Permian Basin.
During the event it was announced there is a call to action for those wanting to make the community a cleaner place. Basin Action Day is scheduled for Nov. 15. At that time, volunteers from across the Permian Basin will clean parks, roadways and shared spaces.
Every resident, business, school, and organization is invited to participate. Please sign up at basinbeautificationproject.com.
