MPD: Collisions, fatalities are down during calendar year

MPD MAKES IMPACT ON SAFETY ON MIDLAND'S STREETS

(Dec. 3, 2025) 

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Midland Police Department is making an impact on our city’s roads.

With one month left in the calendar year, Midland Police Department officers are reporting productivity per officer is up 3% year over year. The following is more data, showing the contributions being made in 2025.

MPD Officers have made:

  • 18,559 traffic stops,
  • 482 arrests for DWI offenses,
  • 2,462 collision reports.

Compared to the same period in 2024, MPD reports collisions are down 4% and fatality collisions are down 25%.

Speaking of fatality collisions, MPD Traffic Division has responded to 12 so far in 2025. Here are facts from those collisions:

  • 5 involved motorcycles for which all 5 motorcycle operators had contributing factors;
  • 4 involved pedestrians for which 3 pedestrians had contributing factors;
  • 5 fatality collisions had intoxication as a contributing factor.
