CHALK THE BLOCK RETURNS TO DOWNTOWN FOR ENCORE PRESENTATION

(Oct. 9, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The second-annual Chalk the Block celebration is set for Oct. 18, 2025, at Centennial Park in downtown Midland.

The event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and allows Midlanders of all ages to tap into their creative side and transform the sidewalks and streets around the park into vibrant works of art.

This family-friendly event features artistic activities, live entertainment, nine different food trucks and a chance to connect with the community with 15 organizations and 18 businesses scheduled to attend.

Chalk the Block also is where the experts will be complete for bragging rights. This year, 22 artists have signed up for the pro competition, and 14 students have signed up for the high school competition. Can’t make it to Chalk the Block? We will provide an opportunity to vote for your favorite online. Follow the City of Midland on Facebook and Instagram to find out how you can help select the “people’s choice” winner.

Last year’s professional contest winner Anna Lien was selected as this year’s featured artist and face painter. Lien was selected to paint a west-facing wall at City Hall because of her victory in 2024.

ConocoPhillips and Diamondback are again generously sponsoring Chalk the Block. The City of Midland now calls on the community to help us celebrate again with color and creativity. We’ll supply the chalk; you supply the imagination and walk away with a memory.
