CITY CELEBRATES GROUNDBREAKING FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT THE COURSES AT HOGAN PARK
(Nov. 6, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The City of Midland broke ground on significant improvements to The Courses at Hogan Park on Thursday.
The transformation of municipal golf facilities in Midland will start with the Quail Course. Phase 1 improvements include:
- Renovations of all greens, surrounds, and bunkers,
- New tee boxes,
- Regrassed fairways with a more substantial turf,
- New putting green next to the tee on No. 1,
- New Irrigation System,
- New RO System for Irrigation.
Major changes include the 10th hole being converted to a par-4 and the re-introduction of the old pond on hole No. 12.
“It means a new start to public play in Midland, Texas,” said head golf professional Thomas Brantley. “The citizens of Midland will have a new, renovated course, the same grass on greens -- not a mixture of grasses — and an RO system that will help tremendously. The Quail Course can be played from 5,000 yards to 7,000 yards. This will accommodate family friendly tees to juniors, ladies, beginning golfers to the average golfers or even professional players. The staff at the Courses at Hogan Park is excited about these changes and looks forward to the opening of the Quail Course.”
Phase 2 highlights include improvements and changes to the Roadrunner Course, development of practice holes, and a new Irrigation System that will tie into the RO System that was installed in Phase 1.
Phase 3 changes will take place to the clubhouse, maintenance facility, parking and practice areas.
Already approved increases in golf fees are expected to pay for improvements made at The Courses at Hogan Park. The renovation of the Quail Golf Course is a critical investment in the future of Midland's recreational infrastructure, and it is entirely funded by users of the golf course, not residents or homeowners.
Substantial completion for Phase 1 should occur in September 2026, with play on the course resuming in October 2026.
The City of Midland operates two 18-hole golf courses (the Roadrunner Course and Quail Course) at the 3600 N. Fairgrounds Road location. The golf complex is among the largest municipal golf complexes in West Texas.
